Road Review 10/27/2005
Town Board members George Bagnall, Aaron LeClair, Jeanne Majeski and Eileen Phetteplace present. Door County Highway Department Commissioner, John Kolodziej present for a portion of the Road Review.
North Cave Point Drive
History of road: Hot mix applied 28 years ago; 2001 sealcoat applied that “didn’t take”.
Hwy 57 to Jorns Road section (.81 miles) needs to have base fixed, simple wedge and overlay not recommended. Need to pulverize. Might be possible to take down rise, or as alternative, fill in low spot if rise is a rock ledge. Culvert needed under road at #5827 to drain area. Could widen road in spots of poor visibility, but widening whole road not feasible with number of trees involved. Several trees do need to be taken out close to road as there is evidence they have already been hit. John Kolodziej will give us an estimate on this section for pulverizing, adding gravel and cutting hill or filling low spot for 22 foot roadway. We have an estimate for $4,100/mile to pulverize.
2nd section of North Cave Point Drive - Kolodziej recommended a wedge and overlay.
Discussion involved applying for TRIP program for 1st section of North Cave Point Drive. George will do application process after receiving estimate from Kolodziej. George will contact someone regarding removal of trees close to road.
North ½ mile of Memorial (Junction to Hillside) Wedge and overlay recommended by Kolodziej.
Bocheck Road Widen to match Egg Harbor end. Kolodziej recommended: 1st year widen and compact gravel then allow time to settle, 2nd year overlay whole road.
Jorns Road need stop ahead signs for north and south bound traffic at Bagnall road; Also stop ahead sign needed at Bagnall intersection with County T
Jorns Road (Hwy 57 to V) Hole needs to be filled and wedge and seal.
O’Brien Road needs something more than a seal as surface is uneven. Ask for “expert” opinion.
East Townline Road (.38 mile) Seal to protect crack filling.
Flok Road needs stop ahead sign near Greg Schleicher residence.
Clark Lake Drive (Clark Lake Ct. to Trails End) needs seal coat in 2006 or 2007.
Parking lot at town hall pulverize and reuse material. Wait until Cave Point Drive is pulverized next summer and do at the same time. No decision what portion to leave gravel or blacktop.
In addition west ¼ mile of Bagnall Road to be considered for construction or upgrade, survey in order.
