TOWN OF JACKSONPORT BUDGET HEARING
Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Town Hall
The budget hearing was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairman Jim
Sarosiek. Present: Chairman Jim Sarosiek, Supervisor Randy Halstead,
Supervisor Jeanne Majeski, Treasurer Carol Oram and Clerk Eileen
Phetteplace. There were 30 other people from the township. Motion
(Jeanne/Randy/Passed) to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at
6:35 pm.
TOWN OF JACKSONPORT SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
The special town meeting was called to order at 6:35 pm immediately
following the budget hearing.
Motion (Herb Miller/Tom Rondeau/Passed unanimously) to approve the
budgeted amount of $223,207 for total highway expenditures for 2010.
Motion (Tom Ash/Alvin Birnschein/Passed unanimously) to adopt the 2009
town tax levy of $310,916.
Motion (Tom Donovan/Carol Oram/Passed) to adjourn. Meeting adjourned
at 6:40 p.m.
TOWN OF JACKSONPORT SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING
The special board meeting was called to order at 6:40 pm, immediately
following the Special Town Meeting by Chairman Jim Sarosiek. Present:
Chairman Jim Sarosiek, Supervisor Randy Halstead, Supervisor Jeanne
Majeski, Clerk Eileen Phetteplace and Treasurer Carol Oram.
Motion (Jeanne/Randy/Passed) to adopt the town budget as presented.
Two bids were received for the advertised work of snow control for the
Town of Jacksonport for the 2009-2010 winter season. They were
received from Peil Construction, LLC and Bissen Asphalt. Motion
(Jeanne/Jim/passed) Randy opposed to award the work to a private
company. Motion (Jeanne/Jim/Passed) Randy opposed to award the
contract to Peil Construction, LLC.
The next item of business which had been posted on the meeting agenda
was: Public Hearing on Schauer Park boat launch issue
(Discussion/Action)
Jim asked that people in favor of the project speak first. There were
14 people which spoke in favor of the project. Next those that were
opposed were asked to speak. There were 17 people that spoke. There
was an opportunity for rebuttal, during which four people spoke. The
public discussion ended at 9:05 pm. Motion (Jeanne/Randy/Passed) Jim
opposed “that the Town of Jacksonport authorize Door County to design,
plan, and construct a boat launch, harbor of refuge park at Schauer
Park and that the Town will negotiate a long term lease with a minimum
of 20 years with the County for the park’s operation and to allow the
County to operate the park under the rules of the Door County Parks
System.”
Motion (Randy/Jeanne/Passed) to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 9:30
pm.
