Public Hearing
Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Town Hall
The public hearing was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman George Bagnall.
Present were Town of Jacksonport; Chairman George Bagnall, Supervisor Jeanne Majeski and Clerk Eileen Phetteplace. Town of Sevastopol; Chairman Leo Zipperer, Supervisors Tom Girman, Dan Woelfel, Chuck Tice, John Staveness and Clerk/Treasurer Linda Wait.
The purpose of the hearing was to provide information and allow public comment on a proposed ordinance to regulate boating activities upon the waters of Clark Lake, including restrictions of speed (slow-no-wake).
Paul Schumacher, president of the Clark Lake Advancement Association (CLAA) summarized the efforts of their organization which started over five years ago. The CLAA would be responsible for placing the buoys in the east bay and northern end of Clark Lake. CLAA would also post signage at the three public access points to Clark Lake. CLAA has volunteered to cover the costs of both the signs and buoys.
Lainie Kufrin and Kari Anderson spoke in support of the ordinance. Bob Kufrin asked about the enforcement of the ordinance. Leo Zipperer said enforcement of the ordinance would be left up to the DNR wardens and the Door County Sheriff’s Department.
Gary Haen did not think the ordinance would be effective.
Motion (Leo/Tom/Passed) to close the hearing. The hearing adjourned at 7:32 pm.
