Re: Park and Ball Field review
The Parks Committee met at the Town Hall 3/05/07 at 8:30AM. Committee members present were: Tom Ash, Brad Bley, Aaron LeClair, and Eric Wickstrom. Also present were: Terry Simon, Bill Sampone, John Mayberry, Kari Anderson, and Katie Hebal. Terry Simon called the meeting to discuss the plan for lawn mowing in Lakeside Park for 2007. The minutes from the 9/23/06 meeting were discussed and approved.
Terry Simon said that Bill Sampone had heard the Town was going to bid out the job for 2007 but had heard nothing more. Terry felt the communication needed to be improved. Aaron said the Town Board would address this at the next meeting. Bill requested they be specific as to the services to be bid. Terry mentioned that he now had forks for the tractor and would be able to move the picnic tables so Bill would not have to do this prior to mowing. Terry added that several trees would be removed reducing the amount of ground clean-up required. These changes should make the task of mowing the park easier.
Eric mentioned the Jacksonport Advancement Corp. had recently approved a budget change to provide funds to replace 3 trees that Terry will soon remove from the park. The JAC has made arrangements with Dave Burke to purchase 3 large maple trees which Dave agreed to supply at a cost of $500 each to include planting.
Terry Simon again mentioned how important good communication between the Committee and the Town Board was in facilitating his maintenance duties.
Katie Hebal, from the Women’s Club, asked about discussing a gazebo in the park. Aaron said this could be put on the agenda for the next meeting.
Aaron suggested the Parks Committee plan to meet once every quarter in the future, and set the next meeting for Monday, March 19, 2007, at 7:00 PM. The agenda at this meeting will include preparation for Maifest 2007.
