TOWN OF JACKSONPORT BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Town Hall
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Chairman Alvin Birnschein.
Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Ben Logerquist.
Present: Chairman Alvin Birnschein, Supervisors George Bagnall and Jeanne Majeski, Treasurer Carol Oram, and Clerk Eileen Phetteplace.
Agenda. Motion (Jeanne/George/Passed) to accept the agenda, for the March 22nd meeting as presented.
The minutes of the regular meeting of February 22, 2005, were ordered corrected to show the correct balance as of January 31, 2005, as $827,675.29. Motion (Alvin/George/Passed) to accept the minutes of the regular Town Board meeting of February 22, 2005 as corrected and distributed.
Treasurers Report: Treasurer Carol Oram reported as of February 28, 2005, a balance of $253,029.75. Outstanding checks equal $110.82. Motion (Jeanne/George/Passed) to accept the treasurer's report.
Meeting open to Public Comment: Tom Maher spoke to encourage the Town Board to increase the salary of the Fire Chief, Staff and Volunteers.
County Board report by Keri Anderson.
Fire Department wages and salaries: Motion (Jeanne/Alvin/Passed) to increase the salaries as follows: Fire Calls $20.00/hour
Meetings $25 per meeting
Classes $10 per class
Maintenance $15/hour
Fire Chief $4,500/yr
Assistant Chief $1,250/yr
Captain $1,000/yr
Training Officer $750/yr
Engineer $1,000/yr
Motion (Jeanne/George/Passed) to make the wage and salary increases retroactive back to January 1, 2005.
Lakeview Cemetery Committee: Motion (Jeanne/Alvin/Passed) Motion that no cemetery or grave sites shall be sold, except to the representative of a deceased resident, prior to the adoption of new cemetery regulations. The representative of a deceased resident may purchase a lot for that resident subject to a written agreement that the board may impose the difference between the current fee and the fee adopted as a result of the Cemetery Study and further that the purchaser will abide by any other regulations adopted as a result of this study.
Wages for Poll Workers. Motion (Jeanne/Alvin/Passed) to table until the April Town Board Meeting.
Jacksonport Ball Park: Motion (George/Jeanne/Passed) to hire Bill Sampone to clean-up mornings after a ball game; however if the mess is excessive the people using the ball park will be invoiced for the work.
Motion (Alvin/George/Passed) to approve the fees and lodging for Clerk, Eileen to attend the UWGB – Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Institute.
Motion (George/Alvin/Passed) to not approve the Proposed County Burning Regulations. Clerk will so advise the Door County Corporation Counsel.
Petition for Grant of Variance – James and Jane Hutchinson: Motion (George/Alvin/Passed) to support the petition. Clerk will so advise the Door County Planning Department.
Invoices were submitted for approval.
Motion (Jeanne/George/Passed) to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 9:35 P.M.
