TOWN OF JACKSONPORT BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall

Chairman Jim Sarosiek called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Ben Logerquist.

Present: Chairman Jim Sarosiek, Supervisor Jeanne Majeski, Supervisor
Randy Halstead, Clerk Eileen Phetteplace and Treasurer Carol Oram.

Agenda. Motion (Jeanne/Randy/Passed) to accept the agenda for the July
28, 2009 meeting as presented.

Motion (Jeanne/Randy/Passed – Jim abstained) to accept the minutes of
the Town Board meeting of June 23, 2009 as presented.

Treasurer Report: Door County Tourism Zone Commission for May
collections was $552.35.
The 2008 recycle rebate in the amount of $1,565.83 was paid to
Jacksonport by The County of Door.
Jacksonport received a First Dollar Credit payment on July 27, 2009 in
the amount of $16,957.95.
Of these monies the following is owed.
State $266.09
Door County $4,875.70
Town of Jacksonport $1,594.40
Sevastopol School District $7,900.59
Vocational School 2,321.17
The entire amount of the First Dollar Credit will be paid to the
county treasurer on or before August 15, 2009. The county treasurer
will include the amount with the August 20 settlement for all taxing
jurisdictions. -Presented by Treasurer, Carol Oram. Motion
(Randy/Jeanne/Passed) to accept the treasurer’s report as presented.

Nancy Fisher, Publicity Chairman for Holy Nativity Episcopal Church
presented a letter dated July 28, 2009 to the Town Board. It
illustrated the proposed 1300 sq ft building addition for their
church.

Committee Reports. The Parks Committee will meet August 3, 2009. The
Fire Department Committee met July 16, 2009. Both committees provide
minutes to the Town Clerk after they have been approved by their
committees. Paul Ozburn, chairman of the Fire Department Advisory
Committee presented the Town Board, for their consideration, a copy of
an Ordinance __-2009, which would replace Ordinance 04-2007.

Motion (Jeanne/Randy/Passed) to accept and approve payment of the
invoices which had been submitted to the Town, excluding the invoice
from Meissner Landscape, Inc. The Park Committee is still not
satisfied with the work which was done at the ball field.

Public Comment. Richard Knowles welcomed Jim Sarosiek as the new town
chairman. Richard recommended that the Town Land Use Plan be on the
Town website.

County Board report presented by Nancy Bemmann.

Dan Vanderleest has received the State approved plan for the three
chamber replacement septic tank work needed at the Jacksonport Town
Hall/Fire Station.

Lawrence Hanson presented an insurance quote to the Town Board.
Motion (Randy/Jeanne/Passed) to table until the August meeting.

The issue of speeders in Jacksonport was discussed. Ron Schultz
recommended that a flashing beacon be installed to highlight the speed
limit in the town. No action taken at this time.

Job descriptions; Jim will make an organization chart. It is expected
that job descriptions will be developed in the next six months.

Jim stated that he thought the existing Jacksonport Land Use Plan was
very well done. We will pursue adding it to the town website.

Todd Rasmussen from Frontier Wilderness Campground recommended that
the town board take action to reduce the speed limit on Hillside Road.
Motion (Randy/Jeanne/Passed) to reduce the speed limit to 45 mph from
Lost Lake Road to County T and to place a warning “Reduced Speed
Ahead” sign up.

Reminders:
– Open book is scheduled for the 13th day of August, 2009 at the
Jacksonport Town Hall from noon to 4:00 p.m., the 14th day of August,
2009 from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and
additionally on the 15th day of August, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
Board of Review will be held the 12th day of September, 2009, at 10:30
a.m.

Petition for Zoning Amendment - Text (Applicant: Liberty Park
Development, Inc., Section 7.05 (4) (b)) – [The proposed amendment
would change section 7.05 (4) (b) of the text as follows: (b) Lots
existing prior to the effective date of this Ordinance which cannot
meet the spacing requirement of par. (a) shall be permitted one access
driveway.] Motion (Jim/Jeanne/Passed) to oppose the request. The town
board recommends keeping the current requirements.

Correspondence was made available to the Town Board members.

Motion (Jeanne/Randall/Passed) to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at
approximately 8:48 p.m.
