TOWN OF JACKSONPORT BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at the Town Hall
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by Chairman George Bagnall.
Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Al Scharrig.
Present: Chairman George Bagnall, Supervisor Aaron LeClair, Supervisor Jeanne Majeski, Treasurer Carol Oram, and Clerk Eileen Phetteplace.
Agenda. Motion (Jeanne/Aaron/Passed) to accept the agenda for the July 25, 2006 meeting as presented.
Motion (Aaron/George/Passed) to accept the minutes of the regular Town Board meeting of June 27, 2006.
Motion (Aaron/George/Passed) to accept the minutes of the Land Use Committee of June 27, 2006 as presented.
Motion (Jeanne/Aaron/Passed) to accept the minutes of the Board of Review, July 15, 2006 as presented.
Treasurers Report: Carol reported that the bank balance at the end of June was $177,570.82. All liquor licenses have been issued and paid for. All personal property tax bills have been paid, except for one that is not collectable in the amount of $57.87. Fire dues have been received in the amount of $4,898.98. Yield forest crop tax paid $781.33. Property tax final payment is due July 31st. Motion (George/Jeanne/Passed) to accept the treasurer's report.
Meeting open to Public Comment: Richard Knowles asked if the minutes from Town Board meetings could be published in the Door County Advocate. Eileen pointed out that the minutes are available online at the Town website, www.jacksonport.org. Also, the minutes will be mailed to anyone requesting in writing that they want a copy mailed to them. Richard also asked for an explanation of the franchise agreement with Brilliant Cities. George Bagnall summarized the progress being made on the contracted work on the town roads.
County Board report by Keri Anderson
Lakeview Cemetery: Aaron had nothing new to report at this time.
Bob Bultman, Door County Invasive Species Team Coordinator, presented information on invasive species. He can be reached at dcist1@gmail.com or (920) 839-2019. He is coordinating demonstration and volunteer work days to learn how to properly control invasive wetland plants and safeguard shoreline habitats.
George reported that Terry Simon has been upgrading the toilet facilities at Lakeside Park. In addition to the improvements already made, a product “Rid-it King blue” will be used to help control odors.
Aaron said members of the Park Committee have received numerous compliments on the improvements to the town ball field and facilities.
The Town needs a minimum of three posting sites for Town information. Eileen will check with Mr G’s Supper Club, to obtain permission to make it one of the posting sites for Town information. The other sites will be the Town Hall / Fire Station, Bley’s Grocery, and Mike’s Port Pub.
The Town Board discussed items they would like to request that the Jacksonport Advancement Corporation (JAC) consider financing. Some of the ideas given were: a public address system for the Town Hall, additional trees in the park and ball field, more equipment for maintenance, upgrades to the playground equipment, a watering system for the ball field, improvements to the countertops in the upper shelter at Lakeside Park, concrete slabs for the grills and cooler used during Maifest. Aaron agreed to write a letter to JAC requesting their consideration.

Invoices were submitted for approval.
