Jacksonport Parks Committee Minutes – February 1, 2010
Town Hall/Fire Station
1. Interim chairman Joe Jarosh called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.
2. Members present were Mike Bieri, Joe Jarosh & Katie Hebal. New
Committee members Dawn Craig & Mike Lautenbauch were introduced. No guests attended.
3. Agenda was amended & approved to reflect new business item (a) election
of committee chairperson & recording secretary at this time. Unanimously elected were Joe Jarosh as chairman & Katie Hebal as recording secretary.
4. December 14, 2009 minutes were approved.
5. No public comments.
6. Unfinished business:
(a) 5-Year Parks/Playground Action Plan
• Copies of plan handed out & priority of items discussed. Object of plan is to present our ideas & recommendations to the Town Board which chairman will do at future date.
• Improved restrooms, changing area, visitor information kiosk may be accomplished by purchasing Rip Tide property. Joe will contact Town Supervisor Jeanne Majeski for information about WI Scenic Byways grant money.
• Committee wants to proceed with electrical upgrading in the upper shelter prior to Maifest 2010 per the quote from Denessen Contracting. Other organizations that use the shelter (JAC & Historical Society) will be contacted to share the costs.
• Mike L. advised all groups selling food in the shelters should have their Food Sanitation Certificate on premises.
• Dawn suggested park landscaping to encompass a walking path to connect the 3 areas.
• Joe will have Eileen Phetteplace send Dawn & Mike L. the Jacksonport Land Use Plan.
(b) Playground Equipment for Ball Park
• Donated used equipment needs to be safe & useable without adult supervision. Equipment will not be accepted without Parks Committee’s approval.
• Based on 4 sets of bleachers, committee felt additional bleacher seating is not needed.
• Joe will make presentation to Town Board requesting additional playground equipment & mention it in the Advocate column closer to spring.
(c) Other Parks
Restrictions & conditions of Erskine Rest Area prohibit future development without consent of family heirs.
7. New Business
(a) Committee chairperson & recording secretary completed in #3.
(b) Meeting dates & committee roster distributed & corrected:
• Mike Lautenbach’s phone corrected to 823-8499
• Mike Bieri’s cell 920-493-1020 deleted
(c) No new discussion items
8. Volunteer Recognition: Aaron LeClair and Adam Bley for their work
preparing the ice rink for skating.
9. Agenda items for April 15th meeting
• Report from Katie on power upgrade
• Report from Dawn on landscaping to integrate Lakeside park, Erskine rest area & ball park
• Report from Joe concerning scenic byways rules & regulations
• Report from Joe on direction from Town Board regarding our Parks 5 year plan
10. Adjourned at 8:15pm
