TOWN OF JACKSONPORT BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at the Town Hall
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Supervisor George Bagnall.
Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Ben Logerquist.
Present: Chairman George Bagnall, Supervisor Jeanne Majeski, Treasurer Carol Oram, and Clerk Eileen Phetteplace.
Agenda. Motion (Jeanne/George/Passed) to accept the agenda, for the August 23, 2005 meeting as presented.
Motion (George/Jeanne/Passed) to accept the minutes of the regular Town Board meeting of July 26, 2005 as distributed. Motion (Jeanne/George/Passed) to accept the minutes of the special Town Board meeting of July 13, 2005 as corrected and distributed.
Treasurers Report: Treasurer Carol Oram reported as of July 30, 2005, a balance of $375,604.86. The Town has received the following: from the State of Wisconsin, general transportation aid $21,420.93, July shared revenue, $2,127.08, Wisconsin Revenue Department school levy property tax credit $179,227.87, Ridges Sanctuary, Inc. payment in lieu of 2004 taxes $143.20. Motion (George/Jeanne/Passed) to accept the treasurer's report.
Meeting open to Public Comment: Mary Seeberg, President of the Jacksonport Advancement Corporation presented an annual report. (See attached file). Richard Knowles questioned a possible conflict of interest between Brilliant Cities hiring a county board member to promote their business in Door County. Keri Anderson concerned about the safety of people using Lakeside Park due to the condition of some of the trees in the park. One of the trees recently down, George arranged to have it cleaned up.

Motion (Jeanne/George/Passed) to adopt the Town of Jacksonport Ordinance No. 01-05 An Ordinance Establishing and Regulating Town Cemeteries.
Town Supervisor #1 Vacancy. Both Aaron LeClair and J.R. Jarosh submitted letters of interest to be appointed as the Supervisor #1, to finish out the term vacated by George Bagnall, after he moved into the position of Town Chairman. Each was interviewed by George Bagnall, Jeanne Majeski and Eileen Phetteplace. Motion (Jeanne/George/Passed) to appoint Aaron LeClair as Supervisor #1 for the remainder of this current term. Aaron read aloud and filed the Official Oath of office.
Town playground equipment: Tom Ash has repaired, and George has checked the equipment in Lakeside Park.
Motion (George/Aaron/Passed) to have the Town Clerk draft and mail a letter to Jim Smith ordering him to remove the stone fence encroaching on Town property. (Refer to State Statute: 86.04) Email a copy of the letter to Town Board members.
Discussion regarding the Town ball field. Should be revisited in the spring.
Petition for Grant of Variance (Applicant: Lisa Gertsch c/o Richard Lutz) Motion (Jeanne/Aaron/Passed)-George opposed to deny the variance. Clerk will so advise the Door County Planning Department.
Petition for Grant of Variance (Applicant: Charter Communications) Motion (George/Aaron/Passed)-Jeanne abstained to deny the variance. Clerk will so advise the Door County Planning Department.

- Budget Hearing (set date)
Invoices were submitted for approval.
Motion (George/Jeanne/Passed) to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 9:20 P.M.

Since 1977 through August 22, 2005 the JAC has contributed $284,590 to our community.
We are currently looking for projects to support in the coming year. Requests for donations must be submitted in writing. The deadline for requests is September 1.
All are welcome to become members of the JAC and attend our meetings. Our next meeting is September 20 at 7:00 PM in the Jacksonport Town Hall.
