TOWN OF JACKSONPORT BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the Firestation
The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Chairman Al Birnschein. Present: Chairman Al Birnschein,
Supervisors George Bagnall and Jeanne Majeski, Treasurer Carol Oram and Clerk Eileen Phetteplace.
Treasurer Carol Oram reported as of March 31, 2004, a balance of $209,473.76. We did receive from
the WI Dept. of Revenue, Lottery Credit payment for $12,189.32. One more Personal Property Tax bill
has been paid. Leaves the outstanding total of $275.81. Out of that $98.50 should be collectable. The
remainder is still $177.31 still working on that portion with Frontier Wilderness. Motion
(JEANNE/GEORGE/PASSED) to accept the treasurer's report.
Meeting open to Public Comment: In attendance was Sheriff Deputy Bob Lauter, available for questions.
Will try to attend Town Board Meetings as often as possible.
County Board report by Keri Anderson. Reports that on May 6th there will be a Public Hearing on the
Land Division Ordinance. Right to Farm Responsibly Resolution coming up. Smart Growth Assembly Bill
233 tells Keri that a Town the size of Jacksonport will not have to go through with the Program. County
will still be required to do it. Groundbreaking at the Justice Center will be May 10, 2004. Real Property
Listing Annual Report has been published. Out of all of Door County, Jacksonport makes up 2.7 % of the
equalized value of Door County. Mike Grim of the Nature Conservancy has a new book which will be at
the County Libraries. Jacksonport is well represented in the book.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. Changes made to the statement - Weight limits on Town
roads are seasonal. Motion (AL/JEANNE/PASSED) to accept the change of the minutes as read.
Weight Limits for Roads. Motion to Table (GEORGE/JEANNE/PASSED).
Hiring of Inspector. Motion to Table (GEORGE/AL/PASSED).
Town Hall Renovation. Motion to Table (JEANNE/GEORGE/PASSED).
TRIP money projects have to be bid out. We have $35,000 TRIP money. George raised question of the
Town gravel pit. Can we still remove material? Motion (AL/JEANNE/PASSED) to go ahead with the
repairs, as proposed, to Logerquist Road.
Loan Application for the purchase of Fire Truck has been approved for our use for one year from April
15, 2004.
Motion (GEORGE/AL/PASSED) to authorize the Jacksonport Town Clerk to issue picnic, cigarette,
soda and operator licenses as needed.
Motion (AL/JEANNE/PASSED) to grant Town Hall Bakery Beer License for 6 months, May-November
2004, and annual "Class C" Retailer's License for the sale of Wine, July1, 2004 to June 30, 2005.
Motion (GEORGE/JEANNE/PASSED) to pay for tuition and lodging for the Jacksonport Town Clerk,
to attend the UWGB - Municipal Clerks and Treasurers Institute July 11-16, 2004.
No problem with Petition for Grant of variance - Paul & Kirby Bouthilet. Town Clerk will so advise the
Door County Planning Department.
Motion (AL/GEORGE/PASSED) to approve Ordinance 2004-02 - Town Board Resolution (related to
site plan review). Town Clerk will so advise the Door County Planning Department.
Motion (JEANNE/AL/PASSED) to take NO ACTION on the Petition for Zoning Amendment by Louise
Klussendorf. Town Clerk will so advise the Door County Planning Department.
Motion (JEANNE/AL/PASSED) to take NO ACTION on the Petition for Zoning Amendment by
Thomas Cogan. Town Clerk will so advise the Door County Planning Department.
Invoices were submitted for approval.
Motion (AL/JEANNE/PASSED) to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 10:10 P.M.
